Platelet Rich Plasma for Hair Loss

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Loss and Thinning

Platelet rich plasma or PRP is a new and exciting trend in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. It is being used to stimulate the growth of hair and reduce the effects of hair loss and thinning in both men and women. For some patients, PRP has helped regrow hair in hereditary as well as other types of hair loss: hormonal, stress, age, surgery or illness, and more.*

Where Does the PRP Come From?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is derived from your own blood. After a gentle blood draw, it is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP. The PRP is then delivered via injection in the desired area(s) for hair growth.

About PRP

Platelets in the blood have an important job to promote healing. This is possible thanks to their growth factors and proteins that assist in regenerating cells in the body. When using PRP for hair loss, the growth factors’ job is to stimulate the inactive hair follicles into an active growth phase.
