How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
The hair has three different cycles of growth. The laser is most effective during the growth phase, when the hair is attached to the hormone and blood supply. Laser energy is attracted to the melanin (pigment) of the hair. It then travels down the follicle and to the blood supply, where this energy stops the follicle’s ability to grow hair.
How Does the Vectus Laser Work?
The Vectus Laser is considered a major advancement in laser hair reduction because of its speed and its ability to treat almost all colors of hair. Vectus also has the added benefit of Skintel, an FDA-approved melanin skin reader that evaluates a patient’s skin type and lifestyle. This skin reader helps our licensed Aestheticians choose the best and safest setting for maximum hair reduction.
The Vectus Laser has an 810nm wavelength that provides permanent hair removal for the largest array of skin and hair types. It is also very fast and can remove hair from large areas such as the chest and back in just 5-minutes!* Older lasers would usually take up to 40 minutes! Additionally, the Vectus system offers a less painful removal experience.
During the treatment process, patients should not wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams. However, it is recommended that you do shave the day of your treatment. Some patients may experience some redness and swelling around the follicles of the area being treated, which is normal and usually subsides in twelve hours but can last up to forty eight hours.*
How Long Until the Hair is Gone?
At Phoenix Skin Spa, we offer 10 session packages. The laser affects hair in the growth phase and not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, so it will usually take multiple sessions spaced at four to six week intervals to see maximum results. A gradual reduction of hair will be seen after each treatment.
While most patients do experience up to an 85% reduction in hair, there may be some hair at the end of the 10-session treatment, but it is easier to maintain. There are factors such as genetics, hormones, and medications that can stimulate hair growth causing the hair to grow back after treatment completion.
