Did you know there is a way to effectively remove those stubborn brown spots on your face, chest, neck and hands, to give your skin an overall clearer appearance? IPL Photo Rejuvenation can do all this and more, allowing you to lighten sunspots and age spots, while also reducing redness, dilated and broken blood vessels.
What is IPL Photo Rejuvenation and How Does It Work?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, which is a non-ablative, non-invasive light energy that targets freckles, brown spots and broken capillaries. The beam of light passes through the skin and is absorbed by either the melanin (pigment) or hemoglobin (blood). The melanin or hemoglobin is then naturally absorbed by the body.
The IPL Photo Rejuvenation Procedure
During the IPL Photo Rejuvenation procedures, you may feel a sensation similar to a hot rubber band snapping on the surface of your skin. After the treatment, it is also common to experience a mild sunburn sensation, which will subside quickly.
For up to 14 days after the treatment, brown pigment will crust, darken and flake away via the skin’s natural cell turnover. If you undergo capillary treatment, the capillaries will temporarily darken and then fade; these after-effects are natural and should be expected. However, neither are permanent and will fade over time. A light powder or tinted moisturizer will be sufficient during this process and full-coverage makeup can be applied 3-hours post-procedure, if needed. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately after their treatment.
The number of treatments needed will depend on the condition or severity of damage being treated. At Phoenix Skin Spa, we offer both single sessions and packages that are performed at four to six week intervals. The interval spacing allows for safe and effective treatments at various depths and layers of the skin.
Are There Any Risks with IPL Photo Rejuvenation?
There are some skin types and conditions that may preclude some people from undergoing IPL Photo Rejuvenation. Our staff can help you determine if IPL is the best procedure for you, or offer alternate solutions. Give us a call today to set up a complimentary consultation.
